“The most beautiful view in the world”
This was the title of newspaper reports in 1912 upon the opening of the casino that formerly occupied the location, prior to the hotel’s launch in 1967. From the former casino it has inherited the most privileged location in the city, with a panoramic view like no other of the bay of La Concha as well as a distinctly Belle Époque design concept that is evident at every turn. So much so, that in the hall and bar with large picture windows overlooking the sea, you’ll find furniture of that time available for your event!
While maintaining the essence of the place, a contemporary touch can be felt in its 123 spacious rooms, with terraces and panoramic views of the sea, ideal for enjoying the tranquillity that this unique environment offers. Parking? A large spot is available for free if you’re travelling, for example, from France, whose border is only 20 km away, the same distance as the San Sebastián airport. You also have the option to arrive by train, or even funicular! The most popular way to ascend and descend the mountain, and no doubt something different for your attendees to escape in after the event to discover the gastronomy founded upon pintxos and the entire historic centre featuring Mirimar Palace and San Telmo Museum, among others.
Meeting rooms, terraces and even a fortified tower
Some say that the best ideas are conceived by the sea, as it can help you to switch off, concentrate and think clearly. If you’re organising an immersion meeting and your goal is maximum concentration, look no further than the hotel with its location that is idyllic and completely secluded. It offers three modular rooms for up to 250 people, 389 m² in total, that are adaptable for various set-ups or plenary sessions with breakout rooms.
Its other multifunction room of 200 m² and 3 m in height may be used for various types of events such as conferences or fashion shows, or something even more fun, such as cocktail receptions or pirate-themed parties (making the most of the rudders salvaged from an old galleon). All the rooms have audiovisual equipment and natural light which enters through the enormous picture windows, filling the space with energy. Enjoy the rooms’ own private terraces during breaks and allow attendees to experience the views and the sea breeze.
The hotel has no shortage of terraces… even at the pool! And its terraces, more akin to actual viewpoints, never miss, whether it’s a meeting or a cocktail reception, not to mention workshops, tastings, fashion shows or scavenger hunts which finish in the amusement park by the hotel, the perfect culmination to a team-building session.
The terraces can host over 200 people, but if you’re looking for a smaller scale, exclusive event, the Torréon (the former lighthouse) is available for parties of around 20 people. Privacy and unbeatable views!
The best Basque cuisine and an amusement park
In the Basque Country (the region of Spain with most Michelin stars) you are practically guaranteed good food. You don’t have to leave the hotel to enjoy the best cuisine. Try the pool bar with its counter full of pintxos or its restaurant, “El Torreón”, with its banquet hall which casts local produce in a starring role with the sea as a backdrop. Here, commitment to sustainability is total (of course, zero plastic) and a portion of its ingredients are sourced from its organic garden, another idea for a sustainable activity! And a final tip for team building: why not add a scavenger hunt or activity at the amusement park near the hotel to the agenda? Anyone who still feels like even more exertion can avail of the fully-equipped fitness room.
