The Greek islands: business in paradise (close to home!)

The Greek islands: business in paradise (close to home!)

A seminar on a Greek island? YES, but which one? With over 9000 islands, including 200 that are inhabited, Greece is home to a multitude of gems that light up the Mediterranean. To help you choose among these many destinations, here are the ones we love.

Although we usually call them ‘the Greek islands’, these true oases, scattered across a large part of the Mediterranean, each have a very strong identity. You can sail from island to island with no risk of getting bored, even if these magnificent strips of land have a number of things in common: an unrivalled easy way of life, translucent waters and, above all, an extraordinarily rich culture – whether we’re talking about heritage or food – the product of thousands of years of interaction with the three continents that surround them.

Accessibility

These dream locations have all the necessary features to become the backdrop for your next business seminar. Especially as there’s no need to suffer through long days of travel or jet lag to enjoy yourself. In just a few hours, you could be there. A large proportion of the Greek islands, such as Crete or Rhodes, can actually be reached by plane from the major European capitals without any stopovers. Sea lovers can opt for ferries from the Port of Piraeus to Athens: the perfect opportunity to start your trip by deep diving into Ancient Greece with a visit to the Parthenon.

The Accor network on the Greek islands

The Accor Group is well established on the Greek islands. All our ranges are represented there, from Economy to Luxury. This means that in Crete you can enjoy the services of the ibis Styles Heraklion Central, a modern and well-located hotel. If your budget allows it, let yourself be tempted by the Niko Seaside Resort Crete MGallery. Opened in 2022, this stylish boutique hotel will ensure your teams have a breathtaking experience.

In Rhodes, we invite you to join us at the Mercure Rhodes Alexia.  This hotel also opened its doors in 2022 and is worth the detour: located right in the centre of the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, its style reflects the island’s medieval Italian history.

The final stop is Corfu, where you can discover a hotel with countless sophisticated facilities – the Angsana Corfu. In particular, your teams will be able to enjoy its award-winning spa, featuring no fewer than 16 treatment rooms.

And, in 2024, new locations planned for Mykonos will give you the opportunity to sail across the Cyclades, another iconic group of Greek islands.

Incentive activity ideas

Did you know? The highest point in Crete has an elevation of 2,453 metres! From the sea to the mountains, the largest Greek island offers countless options for sporty team-building activities. Once you’ve finished your hikes or boat trips, do not hesitate to spend an evening at a vineyard… In Crete, they’ve been making wine for over 4000 years and that’s not about to stop! Now we set sail for Rhodes, just a few kilometres away from Turkey. If the trip to the multicultural and very well-preserved medieval town has not worn you out, then we suggest taking a walk in the Valley of Butterflies. This is an exceptional nature reserve that sees a significant number of butterflies hatch every summer. A natural marvel that is not to be missed for any reason.

Only a stone’s throw from Albania, Corfu is equally outstanding. There’s a reason why it’s nicknamed Greece’s Emerald Island! It’s neither its rich history nor its dreamy beaches that we want to talk about here, but rather its famed olive production. A visit to a traditional olive grove with an olive mill is an absolute must!
